Autumn is almost back again and the change in temperature and humidity can affect the human skin more than anything else. Constantly switching between indoor warm air and the harsh and cold winds of outdoor air removes moisture from the skin.
Dermatologists say it’s important to change your skin care regimen in between the seasons to boost the natural defenses of the body, since skin that’s dry, irritated or cracked is more vulnerable to infections.
Here are a few ways to care for your skin during autumn:
KEEP YOUR SKIN HYDRATED
It’s very important to keep the skin hydrated. Try to drink as much water and herbal teas to keep hydrated and clean your body from toxins. Also, you can add to your diet more juicy fruits and vegetables.
NOURISH AND MOISTURIZE YOUR SKIN
Nourishing and moisturizing the external layer of skin is crucial to prepare the skin for the harsh and cold weather. You can apply moisturizers and skin care creams throughout the year, but during fall it’s important to maintain it as a daily routine.
PROTECT, EXFOLIATE AND REPAIR
To prevent dry and scaly skin, exfoliate your skin once to twice a week. It helps removing dead skin cells and allows moisturizers to penetrate deeper. You can use a chemical exfoliation treatment, or a physical one. A good trick is to keep a good exfoliating scrub with gloves and mitts in the shower so that they’re handy and you won’t skip this step.
